What we’re looking at this week…
Are you facing any challenges at the moment? How do they make you feel?
Cate Murden shares how she experienced an uncomfortable week, followed immediately by a much better week. Cate offers reassurance that something that seems overwhelming now will eventually become a mere memory.
Cate suggests that facing challenges directly can help us reach a better place. Remember, it’s ok not to feel ok; and it’s absolutely ok to ask for help.
What we’re watching this week…
When was the last time something blew your mind? Was it a new experience?
This video, from Lab of Misfits, explores the sensation of awe. Awe can be brought on by new experiences. This could be travelling to a new place, sampling a new food, or experiencing a new hobby.
Awe helps us grow, can improve our mood, and can expand our horizons. Use our Twitter page to tell us about the last time you were awestruck.
What we’re reading this week…
How do we respond when we regularly face adversity?
Jeremy Statton tells us about his time working in a hospital. He says the team regularly faced long, busy, and challenging shifts. Every now and then, there would be a quiet shift, albeit few and far between. It caused the team to develop a saying, “Expect the worst, hope for the best.” We can be prepared for challenges while still wanting the best for ourselves.
